My husband is doing some BBQing this weekend and we decided to try this new sauce recipe. No we didn't create it it came from the back of the Dixie Crystals Dark Brown Sugar box submitted to them R and D Herring from Richmond Texas. He did a few things different which I will notate at the bottom.
3/4 cup (6 oz can ) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
3/4 cup chili sauce
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp brown, mustard
1 clove garlic mashed
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup chicken stock
1tsp Tabasco sauce
1 tsp salt
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and mix well. Place in a medium saucepan, cover and simmer gently for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally and be careful not to scorch. Cool, cover and refrigerate.
Modifications:
1. He did not have chili sauce, and since I am not much on spicy spicy we just used tomato sauce and tomato paste (because he likes a bit of a thicker sauce).
2. He used spicy brown mustard
3. He doubled the recipe, but only used the 1/2 cup of chicken stock (no particular reason accept we didn't have anymore).
We haven't had it on the pulled pork yet, but just out of the pan we really like it.
